Every action has an equal and opposite reaction, yet how can something simultaneously be both equal and opposite? How can we be reluctant to push boundaries while fearing limitations? Why accept universal truths while we deny contradictions? The purpose of this project is to embrace our collective uncertainty.
Our goal is to showcase engaged artwork that is the equal and opposite reaction to the pivotal moments of 2020. We are seeking works that respond to the Black Lives Matter Movement, the COVID-19 pandemic, the election, or any other current events that have left a mark on the new decade. What could all of these things mean for the future?
To void is to invalidate, while a void is an empty abyss. As an equal and opposite reaction, The Void seeks truth, justice, and clarity. In The Void we take up space. In The Void our voices are heard.
